Friends finger marijuana fiend
University of Arizona Police Department officers were dispatched to the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall on Oct. 30 at 12:15 a.m. in reference to a report of the odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms.
Upon arrival, officers observed that the door to the room in where the odor was allegedly coming from was open approximately 10 inches. As they approached the open door, the odor of marijuana became stronger. Officers knocked on the door and observed four people in the room. Officers separated the four occupants and questioned them about the odor of marijuana. One subject admitted that marijuana was in the room, but claimed that it was not his. Another occupant of the room told police that he knew who the marijuana belonged to, but refused to give police a name.
The man did point police to a backpack in the room. Officers searched the backpack and found two pipes, a marijuana cigarette, rolling papers, a rolling machine, and a marijuana grinder. After police searched the bag, the man that pointed it out admitted that it belonged to a friend. The man gave police a name and officers were able to locate the backpack’s owner. According to police, the man admitted that the backpack belonged to him. He was cited on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on scene and the incident has been referred to the Dean of Students Office.
